Course Description

This course is Orthopedic Specialty Specific. It covers the different types of orthopedic services and includes sections on Orthopedic coding guidelines, medical terminology, anatomy, diagnosis, surgical and procedural codes, specific to Orthopedics.

The course is designed for both the beginner coders interested in concentrating on orthopedic coding and the experienced orthopedic coder looking to sit for the AAPC Ortho specialty exam or just for CEU's.

The Module consists of 7 sections all geared toward Orthopedic coding:

  • Medical Terminology: 15 questions specific to terms that pertain to orthopedics
  • Anatomy: 15 questions specific to terms that pertain to orthopedics
  • Fracture Care: 15 questions pertaining to surgical and non-surgical fracture procedures
  • Arthroscopy: 15 questions specific to arthroscopic procedures
  • General Orthopedics: 15 questions pertaining to orthopedic coding
  • Coding Concepts: 15 questions pertaining to general and specific rules related to guidelines of Orthopedic coding
  • ICD-9: 15 ICD-9 questions pertaining to diagnostic coding specific to orthopedics
  • You will need your 2007 ICD-9 and CPT books for this module.
